In the Alpes-Maritimes, the Department, particularly committed to these issues, has sought to support the security forces to help them better prevent road insecurity.
This is the case with the provision of saliva tests used for detecting drug use above the regulatory thresholds by analyzing a saliva sample in under 15 minutes.
It is even more important to equip police officers and gendarmes with numerous saliva tests, as since early July 2017, the procedure has evolved: in the event of a positive drug test, the driver in question is no longer taken to a doctor for a confirmatory blood test; a second saliva test validates and indicates which substance was taken.
