After their narrow 3-2 victory over Amiens on January 16th, the Nice Eagles were hoping to confirm their dominance over the Picardy team. Before the match, Bastien Maia had recalled the group’s objective: “to build momentum for the playoffs” and string together victories to move closer to fifth place.

But this time, the scenario was very different. At the Jean-Bouin skating rink, the Nice Eagles lost 0-3 in a match where Amiens proved more clinical in attack. A frustrating defeat for the Azureans, who never managed to find the breakthrough despite several attempts.

A match start that quickly became complicated

The match had started with good intentions for the Nice Eagles. The Nice team sought to impose their pace from the opening minutes, trying to establish their game in the opposing zone.

But it was ultimately the visitors who struck first. At 5 minutes and 11 seconds into the first period, Sean Richards opened the scoring for the Amiens Gothiques. The Amiens striker took advantage of a well-constructed collective move, initiated by Aleksandar Magovac and Bastien Maia, to beat the Nice goaltender.

This goal quickly put the Nice Eagles in a difficult position. Forced to chase the game, the Nice team attempted to react by increasing their offensive plays, but the Amiens defense remained solid.

At the end of the first period, Amiens led 1-0, leaving Nice with the need to get back into the match.

Combative but ineffective Eagles

During the second period, the Nice Eagles attempted to regain control of the match. The Nice team showed more intensity and sought to put pressure on Amiens’ defense.

Amiens breaks it open in the third period

The third period ultimately allowed the visitors to make the difference. While the Nice Eagles attempted to draw level, Amiens proved effective in the decisive moments.

At 14 minutes and 21 seconds, Gauthier Gibert scored the second Amiens goal. On a well-executed collective play, Ilies Djemel and Anthony Beauchamp perfectly set up the action before Gibert found the back of the net.

This second goal made it harder for the Nice Eagles, who continued to push to try to reduce the deficit.

Late in the match, at 18 minutes and 45 seconds, A. Beauchamp sealed Amiens’ victory by scoring the third goal, on a pass from G. Gibert.

The final score of 0-3 reflects the Amiens team’s offensive efficiency, who managed to capitalize on their chances against the Nice Eagles.
