Lawyer Adrien Verrier, representing Sandra Bertin, announced that he filed a report with the public prosecutor on behalf of his client under Article 40 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, which requires any official to report “without delay” any crime or offense they become aware of.
In fact, in an interview given to the Journal du Dimanche dated July 24, Sandra Bertin, head of the Urban Supervision Center (CSU) in Nice, explained that “the day after the attacks,” Mr. Cazeneuve’s office asked her to distort reality: the municipal official responsible for video surveillance in Nice accused the Ministry of the Interior of exerting “pressure” on her.
“We considered that the facts, supported by testimonies, were evidently established regarding criminal offenses that could lead to prosecution,” stated Adrien Verrier, upon leaving the Nice courthouse.
“Therefore, we finalized the report with all supporting documents, all names, all details, in order to shed complete light on the facts,” he continued.
It’s unfortunate that this act followed, rather than preceded, Mrs. Bertin’s sensational public statements.
If that had been the case, it would have helped to better understand the dynamics of the events rather than triggering the subsequent controversies.
