After a great success in 2005 with more than 9,500 visitors including 4,500 students, the 2006 Science Festival in the Alpes-Maritimes promises to be even more significant as 84 projects will be presented by 57 scientific participants across 6 cities (Contes, Grasse, Nice, Sophia Antipolis, Vallauris, Villefranche-sur-Mer).
This edition will be particularly marked by 2 unprecedented science villages:
โSophia Celebrates its Scienceโ: A village in SOPHIA ANTIPOLIS organized by PERSAN and hosted by INRA Sophia at Agrobiotech, from October 12 to 14. This village is noteworthy for its strong theme based around โEnvironmental Health,โ with the participation of more than 15 project leaders from varied backgrounds (research organizations, scientific associations, museums, a doctoral studentsโ association, foundation), and especially its opening to the general public and students of all the scientific facilities of INRA’s Research Laboratories (experimental greenhouses, climate chambers, microscopy platform, DNA chip robot). The program includes 21 stands, workshops, and laboratory visits, continuous scientific film screenings during the day, and a โcinรฉ scienceโ session after 6 PM.
โValrose Campus Science Villageโ: A village in NICE, organized by the University of Nice Sophia Antipolis at the Faculty of Science – Valrose Park, from the afternoon of October 11 to 14. This village is characterized by its multi-theme nature, strong participation of doctoral studentsโ associations and university laboratories, as well as the IRH, SAIC, and Alcatel Alenia Space (31 project leaders). The program includes 27 stands and workshops, 3 exhibitions, 11 conferences, 3 laboratory visits, a discovery palace, and a โcollege students’ universityโ day dedicated to eighth grade classes.
Also noteworthy at Sophia Antipolis is a โmini-villageโ at EAI Tech (CERAM) open on Sunday, the 15th, and an activity at the International Center of Valbonne (CIV) organized by teachers and students all week.
