It was in close collaboration with the Academic Inspectorate of the Alpes-Maritimes that this project was implemented by the Communication and Education Departments of the city of Nice. The goal: to provide each school in Nice with a free interactive web newspaper allowing communication about the institution’s and its classes’ news through texts, photos, videos, or downloadable files.
Since then, 5 schools in Nice have tested the platform during part of the previous school year before the decision was made at the beginning of this school year to roll it out to all other institutions in the city of Nice.
For schools, the process couldn’t be simpler. A request must be made to the Departments of Education or Communication of the city of Nice, which then provide the school with the dedicated platform “for free” and ensure training for the teaching team to master the journal’s administration tool.
A newspaper and its mobile site
Today, many people surf the Internet using their mobile phones, taking advantage of the numerous features or applications of the latest smartphones (GPS, email, social networks, etc.). It is to meet this demand that the Scolaweb Mobile Site was launched after the test phase, thus allowing parents to follow their children’s school news from their phone.
“It’s a fantastic tool and perfectly meets what I was expecting for my school and class. We were one of the pilot schools, and we are pleased to start this year again with new ideas to improve our Scolaweb.” Christian Jacomino, Director of the Château School and specialist in new technologies adapted to schools, was one of the first testers of Scolaweb and is delighted about it.
In these times of sustainable development, it seems that the good old paper school journal has found a worthy and virtual replacement!
