The Scolaweb Project aims to provide all classes in a school group, middle school or high school with a true interactive web newspaper through which the educational team, management, students, parent associations and institutional bodies can communicate about their school news as well as about the news in their neighborhood and city. This space also allows for better promotion of the establishment and its staff.

But Scolaweb will also be a true communication platform between the different parties that make up school life (management, teachers, parent associations, parents, institutional bodies, catering providers, etc.).

Why Scolaweb?

  • Because B2i now requires perfect knowledge of computer tools and their use as well as software,
  • Because it is essential that elementary school, middle school and high school students learn about their neighborhood, region, city and country,
  • Because writing is one of the foundations of education and successful integration,

And finally, because Scolaweb is an evolving site that will open the door to many creations within the school environment.

For all these reasons, the Nice Première team designed an interactive website adaptable to the reality of each establishment and equipped with simplified administration requiring basic computer knowledge to allow participation from all stakeholders. This site was created using SPIP which is one of the best open source integrators that exists on the web.

Scolaweb requires no specific installation on the establishment’s machines. Indeed, we perform online installation of the school portal on our dedicated server and ensure training for each teacher or a reference teacher, “resource person” of the establishment.

These trainings will allow mastering the various features of “Scolaweb” as well as becoming familiar with the operation of online administration.

We remain regularly at the disposal of school groups by offering them web support and telephone assistance to quickly answer their requests. A knowledge base/frequently asked questions relating to the project complements online help for schools.

Scolaweb Features

The publishing platform:

The main functionality of Scolaweb in which it is very simple to publish an article online. The article can easily be enhanced with photographs, sounds, videos as well as many document formats (Word, Excel, etc.). Again, no need for extensive computer knowledge to insert these various files and documents in publications.

The Scolaweb sections

There are basic sections on Scolaweb, such as:

The establishment: This will be the section for presenting the establishment in which you can find the establishment’s layout, its internal regulations, the school project, photos of classes and other publications of your choice.

The staff: This is the section intended for the establishment’s staff. Management, teachers, service staff, supervisors, etc. Each person will be presented and it will be possible to contact them by email.

News: The latest information from the establishment, projects, outings, initiatives, speakers, etc. In short, everything you need to know about life within the establishment.

The cafeteria: Menus, dietary advice, staff presentation, cafeteria regulations, etc. Everything you need to know about the lunch break at the establishment.

Sports: Presentation of facilities and equipment, “sports-studies” sections, teams and their sports results, the establishment’s stars, etc. The sporting life of the establishment in all its aspects.

The arts:
Music, painting, sculpture, handicrafts, etc. This is the artistic space of Scolaweb in which you will find virtual galleries where the works of students can be displayed and a virtual concert hall to listen to the virtuosos of the establishment or its choir.

It will be possible to create as many additional sections as needed in Scolaweb as well as subsections which can each receive articles.

Scolaweb is also equipped with:

An integrated spell checker that can be disabled in the administration.

Internal messaging allows editors and administrators to send messages to each other without going through their email.

Its online help, another very important feature that provides a multitude of answers to the various problems that users might encounter.

It is possible to translate its administration interface into more than thirty different languages (English, Italian, German, Spanish, Portuguese, Dutch or Danish).

Scolaweb comes with a very powerful integrated statistics tool that will allow you to monitor the evolution of site visits and establish a precise ranking of the most consulted publications.

Parents, teachers and school principals are at the base of this project. In constant contact with the communication difficulties that may exist between the different components of the school, we believe that Scolaweb could provide an effective solution to communication that could, therefore, even extend beyond the school group.

Moreover, the educational interest is multiple with regular practice of writing but also learning how to use a computer and all its peripherals as recommended by B2i.
