Second edition of the FNAC Gaming Tour in Nice

The FNAC Gaming Tour arrives in Nice for the second time. After Nikof, an e-sport Fortnite player, last October, itโ€™s Cocottee, a Quebec streamer, who will meet the Nice public.

This Saturday, June 29, 2024, the FNAC Gaming Tour returned to Nice. For the second time in the capital of the French Riviera, a video game industry figure comes to meet the Nice public. Arianne Vallieres, known as “Cocottee,” is the guest of this edition. A 24-year-old Quebec streamer, her live streams on the game Call of Duty: Warzone brought her fame. Many fans got the chance to meet, chat, and even play with her on the game Fall Guys.

Going Beyond the Internet Border

The main objective of this kind of event is to democratize video games. Thibaut Mars, head of the technical products department at FNAC, explains: “Gaming is, whether some like it or not, a cultural product and is developing more and more.” Many major partners also provide the best gaming equipment. This allows content creators to meet their fans in a familiar setting. FNAC seeks this atmosphere to recreate the feeling of a book signing by an author, for example. “We all have memories of testing new games on consoles or reading books in the aisles,” recalls Thibaut Mars. With Covid having halted this โ€œtradition,โ€ the FNAC Gaming Tour allows the store to reconnect with its audience through streamers.

An Event for Everyone

It is rare for such events to take place outside the capital. Thatโ€™s why FNAC is trying to change things and allow other cities like Nice to enjoy them. This is also explained by the space available in the stores. “We need space to organize it safely. Thatโ€™s why outside Paris, there will rarely be big-name headliners,” says Thibaut Mars. A forum space on the ground floor of the Nice store can be allocated for the FNAC Gaming Tour to accommodate more people. An initiative pleasing the Niรงois present, like Ninon, who came specifically to meet one of her favorite streamers: “Itโ€™s great that they do this because there are people who are really fans and want to meet them, and it gives us a chance to do so.”

The goal is to have three dates of the Fnac Gaming Tour per year, often in the second half of the year. Discussions for new guests are ongoing at the FNAC in Nice. E-sport competitions are also being considered in the near future. Gaming therefore has bright days ahead.
