The first European online Rotary Green Start-Up Challenge organized in April 2021 in Toulon, during a period of lockdown, brought together 80 candidates over three days from various regions of France, Monaco, Corsica, and the Belgian-Luxembourg provinces.
Accompanied by 20 renowned professionals, experts in business strategy, coaching, finance, legal matters, and sustainable development, the participants, divided into working groups, refined their innovative ideas.
10 of them were selected by this pool of experts and were able to present their refined project live to the final jury. 5 of them were awarded and, at the end of the competition, benefited from the assistance and advice of their professional mentors as well as the Rotary’s international professional network. Thanks to this support, 7 of them have since created their companies in various regions of France.
Buoyed by this success, the Rotary clubs of France, Monaco, Corsica, Belgium, Luxembourg, and Andorra, who initiated this event, wished to foster this entrepreneurial momentum by launching this second online edition on February 24, 25, and 26. “The video tool, easy, green, and accessible to all project initiators, remains in place and will support a sustained pace, lightened by alternating relaxation breaks and virtual playful animations. The Rotary Green Start-Up Challenge 2023 continues to prioritize ideas and projects that combine digital technology and sustainable environmental innovation, in support of the France 2030 plan,” explains Jean-Jacques Titon, co-organizer of the event alongside a cohesive and operational team of 10 experts in communication and digital marketing. “We rely within this organization on numerous Rotaract clubs (ages 18-30) whose entrepreneurial projects we sponsor. It’s part of our DNA. The aim of this new edition is to attract national and European innovative project leaders, accelerating the territorial ecological transition.”
