The leading socialist in Nice reacts after the announcement by the Mayor of Nice to ban access to school fairs in Nice schools to people from outside the institution, thereby depriving parents of a convivial moment.
The announcement of the ban on adults from outside the school attending the end-of-year fairs, made by the Mayor of Nice, renders this convivial moment, to which children, parents, and teaching staff are very attached, meaningless. In most schools, the preparation was already well underway.
The safety of children is a laudable concern, but since most parents are already identified by the school staff, verifying their identity at the entrance to allow them to attend the end-of-year performances is far from insurmountable. This would allow for a balance between securing the establishments and maintaining the fairs. The position of the Mayor of Cannes seems to me, in this regard, full of common sense.
Other gatherings of children and adults are planned in Nice and are not subject to any bans. Next Saturday, as part of the Nice half-marathon, a race will be reserved for the youngest. Every week, sports tournaments gather hundreds of children. So why ban only the school fairs if not to make yet another publicity stunt?
