The work on the green corridor has led the city of Nice to temporarily relocate the Nice Christmas Market for this year. As a result, a security system has been put in place around the market.
The influx of visitors has led to the implementation of enhanced security guidelines in collaboration with the operating company ST2N and representatives of the major trade union, the CHSCT, the Tourism Office, and the City of Nice.
The following measures have been implemented:
Bollards have been placed along the tramway route on Place Massรฉna with interruptions, approximately every 20 meters.
Signage will be installed for pedestrians, advising them not to walk on the platform.
On Saturday and Sunday afternoons in December or in case of large crowds, a significant human deployment is mobilized.
This includes 16 municipal police officers, 4 volunteers from the citizen civil reserve, supervised by the municipal police, 3 ST2N agents from the Mobile Intervention Brigade, and 1 to 2 municipal police segways that will precede the trams at the entrances and exits of the square, totaling 25 people to streamline pedestrian movement on Place Massรฉna.
Outside peak periods, the system will not cause any inconvenience and will help maintain safety by physically delineating the areas around the tracks.
Finally, the tram line will be reinforced with 3 additional trams on Saturdays and Sundays to ease crowding in the trams.
Please note that traffic on Place Massรฉna via Avenue Fรฉlix Faure will be cut off on Saturdays and Sundays in December from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM, and traffic will be redirected to Rue Alberti.
