Latest News

Two months after the creation of the Jean-Médecin Brigade, it was time for the mayor of Nice, Christian Estrosi, to carry out an initial assessment. The numbers are good and the feedback is positive.

It was a campaign promise by Christian Estrosi, and two months after its installation, the initial results are satisfactory. Nearly 80 arrests have been recorded for shoplifting, group theft, deliberate violence, and snatch theft.

According to data from State Services, general delinquency has decreased by 37% in Nice, and shoplifting by 76%, which is the most significant decline. “The roadmap is being followed and respected,” rejoices the mayor of Nice.

Another point of satisfaction is the constant contact between the Jean-Médecin Brigade and the merchants on the avenue. “Relationships are being built with associations and merchants. The result is positive,” adds Christian Estrosi.

Under the authority of Chief Brigadier Franck Haddad, the 20 officers of the Jean-Médecin Brigade take turns 7 days a week from 8 AM to 8:30 PM. The Brigade saw its numbers increase starting Wednesday morning and this will continue until the end of the sales period, scheduled in five weeks.

The mayor of Nice also confirmed the creation, in September, of a Municipal Police Anti-Crime Brigade (BAC), whose mission will be to monitor so-called sensitive areas during the night.
