Since its creation, the Nice Cรดte d’Azur Urban Community has been raising awareness about waste management and eco-citizenship among students, notably through the creation of the educational kit “The Sorting Seagull,” developed in partnership with ADELPHE and the National Education.
Starting Friday, October 20, the Recycling Ambassadors of the Agglomeration reinforce the information provided to residents since the launch of sorting in downtown Nice and the neighborhoods of Ariane and Moulins through fun activities for children in nursery and primary schools.
The games help address questions children might have about the impact of waste on our environment:
– Animatri: A pedagogical talk describing different types of packaging, explaining the increase in waste production, and the necessity of sorting.
– The “Sorting Wheel” game: Creates interaction between children and the recycling ambassadors. Children spin the wheel, which randomly lands on a theme (plastic, cardboard, glass, newspapers/magazines, steel, aluminum) and the ambassadors invite the audience to answer thematic questions.
– The Sorting Game: Four bins are presented (household waste bin, packaging container, glass container, newspaper-magazine container). Each child is given waste items (clean or in illustration form) to dispose of in the correct container.
– The Recycling Game: On a magnetic board, the child must match recyclable household waste with products resulting from recycling.
In total, more than 600 children will actively participate in the games:
– Ariane School – Friday, October 20, 2006,
– Pierre Merle School – October 23 and 24, 2006, and November 06, 2006,
– Moulins School – November 10, 2006,
– Aubert School – November 13, 14, 17, 20, and 21, 2006.
