Republican Senator John McCain was visiting the Principality as part of the 21st annual session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE PA).
A Vietnam War veteran, Republican senator of Arizona since 1987, and the Republican candidate in the November 2008 U.S. presidential election, which he lost to Barack Obama, John McCain spoke yesterday afternoon during the plenary session of the Assembly.
The session, themed “The OSCE: A Region of Change,” brings together over 250 parliamentarians for 5 days (July 5-9, 2012). Delegations from the Middle East and North Africa are also present for the OSCE PA Mediterranean Forum. The main economic debates focus on austerity and solutions to overcome it.
