The electors of Alpes-Maritimes were called to the polls this Sunday, September 27, 2026 for the senatorial elections. Five seats were to be filled in the department. The UDR obtains two elected representatives, while the miscellaneous right list also wins two seats. The Republicans retain one seat.

In the Alpes-Maritimes, the results of the 2026 senatorial elections reshape the department’s representation in the Senate. In 2020, the Republicans had won all five seats to be filled. Sunday’s vote results in a different distribution among the right-wing lists.
The UDR list comes first with 40.22% of the votes and obtains two seats. Laurent Castillo and Gaëlle Frontoni are elected senators for Alpes-Maritimes.
The miscellaneous right list receives 30.13% of the votes and also obtains two seats. Alexandra Borchio Fontimp is re-elected to the Senate. Jean-Marc Delia, mayor of Saint-Vallier de Thiey, returns among the elected officials of the department.
The Republicans list obtains 22.76% of the votes and retains one seat. Dominique Estrosi-Sassone is re-elected senator for Alpes-Maritimes.
The left far behind
The PCF-PS list, supported by The Greens and led by Francis Tujague, PCF mayor of Contes, obtained 84 votes, or 4.08% of the votes. Jean-Christophe Picard received 36 votes, ahead of Adrien Nouet, candidate for France Unbowed, with 14 votes. Livio Orsi, opposition municipal councilor in Beausoleil, obtained 8 votes.
The vote took place a few months after the municipal elections in Nice. The victory of Éric Ciotti, president of the UDR and allied with the National Rally, had changed the balance of political forces in the department. The 2026 senatorial elections now reflect this new configuration among the electors of Alpes-Maritimes.
In total, five senators will represent Alpes-Maritimes at the Senate: Laurent Castillo, Gaëlle Frontoni, Alexandra Borchio Fontimp, Jean-Marc Delia and Dominique Estrosi-Sassone.
