Stay in shape and adopt a healthy lifestyle through sports and physical activities—that’s the aim of the “Seniors in Shape” initiative. It offers free gentle gymnastics classes year-round to residents of Nice aged 55 and over in various open-air locations throughout the city.

Sonia Fiuza, World Karate Vice-Champion, coordinates these classes with the help of two sports educators.

Today, nearly 20,000 seniors from Nice benefit each year from these sessions focused on well-being and sharing. Beyond a sports activity, “Seniors in Shape” also serves as a way to create social connections and fight against isolation.

The sessions are adapted to a senior audience with different levels of sports practice.

Below are the session slots:

– Monday 9 am-10 am: Jardin Thiole (Libération) / 10:30 am-11:30 am: Comte de Falicon (Nice Nord)

– Tuesday 9 am-10 am: Fontaine des Trois Grâces (Jardin Albert 1er) – Square Ziem (Californie) / 10:30 am-11:30 am: Jardin du Château (Colline du Château) – Parc Carol de Roumanie (Fabron)

– Wednesday 9 am-10 am: Place Arson (Riquier) – Jardin des Arènes de Cimiez / 10:30 am-11:30 am: Jardin Thierry Di Masso (Stade Vauban)

– Thursday 9 am-10 am: Jardin Mozart (City Center) – Jardin Lecuyer (L’Ariane) / 10:30 am-11:30 am: Jardin Alsace-Lorraine (City Center)

– Friday 9 am-10 am: Parc Kirchner (Ferber) / 10:30 am-11:30 am: Stade Méarelli (Saint Augustin)

An additional session will take place once a month on Saturday from 9 am to 11 am at the Général Leclerc space on the promenade du Paillon. These will be open to everyone (not just seniors). The first dates are October 14, November 18, and December 16.
