On Monday, May 23, 2022, the Trotabas law school located in Nice had the opportunity to host an exceptional moment. Indeed, about sixty students aged 55 and over received their end-of-year diplomas.
The city of Nice is home to more than 100,000 seniors, making them an integral part of the city. Franรงoise Monier, deputy mayor in charge of seniors, emphasizes that one can learn at any age and that prejudices should be dispelled.
Universitรฉ Cรดte d’Azur was established in 2019, and its president, Jeanick Brisswalter, reminds us that UCA is currently ranked among the 9 best universities in the country. For this pilot program, three campuses in Nice opened their doors to students who are older than average: Carlone, Trotabas, and Valrose. Approximately 250 courses were made available, and about sixty seniors responded to the call for knowledge.
This collaboration between the city’s services and Universitรฉ Cรดte d’Azur aims to open the university so that everyone can learn at their own pace. It also aims to establish an intergenerational dialogue where each party will gain new knowledge.
The recently graduated seniors now take on the role of ambassador so that in the coming years, there will be more and more enrollments. Registrations are possible from mid-May to mid-July through the city’s services.
“We all have the youth of the heart and mind.”
