The healthcare management of populations in the high Nice valleys and the fight against any form of medical desertification is a priority for the Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis and the General Council of the Alpes-Maritimes.
A few weeks ago, Christian Estrosi and Eric Ciotti expressed their concerns to the government regarding the Regional Health Agency’s project to revise the activity of local hospitals and to close or merge beds. Their efforts paid off. The Ministry of Health reassured them about the continuity of the activities currently carried out in the establishments located in the valleys.
However, to strengthen these hospitals and improve healthcare services to populations in the high Nice country, a new organization must be established.
Thus, a partnership agreement will be signed this Tuesday, May 22, between the directors of the Vésubie and Saint Etienne de Tinée hospitals and the Nice University Hospital (CHU). The aim is to facilitate reflection among all the concerned parties to redesign the primary healthcare services in geographical areas distant from urban centers.
Better planning of the health territory and more effective coordination between healthcare establishments, private practitioners, social workers, health centers, and CLIC will enable a more efficient response to the needs of the valley populations.
