On Thursday, March 28, Eric Ciotti, Deputy and President of the General Council of Alpes-Maritimes, and Maurice Schneider, President of the Departmental Committee of the League Against Cancer and National Administrator, will sign the convention formalizing the commitment of the General Council of Alpes-Maritimes to the Departmental Committee of the League Against Cancer. This protocol is part of the departmental actions in support of the fight against cancer.
As part of the actions undertaken by the League Against Cancer in support of people with cancer, the Alpes-Maritimes committee has opened a non-medical and free day reception area called “Espace Ligue” at 3 Rue Alfred Mortier in Nice, which the Department funds through this convention for the year 2013.
The objective of “Espace Ligue,” which serves as a genuine bridge between illness and the return to “normal” life, is to assemble all the necessary tools to help cancer patients overcome the effects of the disease in a single and welcoming place.
The fight against cancer is one of the priorities of the Department’s health policy, which acts in all areas: prevention and information, screening, continuous improvement of care quality, innovation, and research.
In the context of the health project call for 2011-2012, 10 oncology projects were selected by the Departmental Assembly, with a total amount of €1,596,400 allocated, including notably €500,000 awarded to the Cancer Research Institute for the implantation of Cytomed and €450,000 to the Antoine Lacassagne Center for the improvement of therapeutic breast cancer imaging.
