This Monday, the meeting concerning the territorial strategy for crime prevention 2022-2026 took place via videoconference.

The Prefect of Alpes-Maritimes, the Public Prosecutor, and the Mayor of Nice gathered to discuss and sign the new objectives of the Local Council for Security and Crime Prevention (CPLD), as the previous 2018-2022 contract had reached its end.

Christian Estrosi first commented on the rather positive 2018-2021 report, particularly in the field of security, both in terms of strengthened partnerships and actions taken.

Indeed, out of 162 actions, 132 have been completed or are still ongoing, and 27 have not been completed or were hindered, including:

– The overhaul of the municipal “noise” ordinance concerning noise disturbances.
โ€“ The increase in joint operations between the national police and municipal police.
โ€“ The increase in administrative inspections of establishments.
โ€“ The creation of a community center in the Moulins neighborhood.
โ€“ The opening of the House of Justice and Law in a republican reconquest area in co-management with the CDAD attached to the Judicial Court.

Regarding the coming years, the keyword is to act as early as possible, particularly by anticipating youth deviations, supporting the teaching staff in instructing civic values, and assisting parents in their parental duties.

This territorial strategy, “Unite around prevention”, is built around five objectives:

  • Combating the exposure of young people to crime.
  • Strengthening public tranquility mediation.
  • Combating recidivism among adults and minors.
  • Supporting victims, vulnerable people, and access to rights.
  • Preventing radicalization.

It includes 25 actions, such as:

  • The creation of 3 GSI for monitoring individual situations (east, west, center).
  • Revitalizing the Council for the Rights and Duties of Families (CDDF).
  • Strengthening mediation services for public tranquility.
  • Enhancing the local network for supporting victims, such as those of domestic violence and child victims.

In the coming weeks, the city of Nice will deploy some of the key steps.

  • From mid-February, a new Council for the Rights and Duties of Families in Nice will be organized to address the situations of young people and families.
  • From March, the Victims’ Support House (MAV) will strengthen its legal and psychological support and organize new workshops, among others, on resilience to help victims face challenges and rebuild themselves.
  • From the beginning of this year, the support for victims of domestic violence will also be strengthened.
  • From June 1, a mediation team with new recruits will be operational, focusing on the public tranquility of the city center.
