The snow fell abundantly throughout the season, allowing for an early opening (December 8th) and closures extending to Easter, and even beyond, since Auron and Isola only plan to close after next weekend.
In the end, an excellent outcome with record revenues (18.35 million euros, an increase of 34% compared to the 2011-2012 season). These figures are the result of a steady occupancy rate while the trend is mainly towards day trips.
Finally, after years of collective efforts (municipalities, department, mixed initiative unions with the coordination of the CRT), results are beginning to show even though they remain modest compared to the major highlights of the winter season.
“The specificity of our territory comes from its name (Alpes-Maritimes) which evokes its dual nature, the sea and the mountains. This is why significant efforts in terms of investments have been made over the past few years and why we will continue in the future to renovate facilities and improve the quality of accommodation.” asserts, decisively, Eric Ciotti, the head of the department who was accompanied by the president of the Metropolis Christian Estrosi, the deputy Charles-Ange Ginesy, and the president of the CRT Cรดte d’Azur, Alain Gumiel.
He also recalled the financial support from the department for various activities amounting to 13.5 million euros for the 2013 season, which includes a large promotional campaign (especially internationally) in partnership with the CRT Cรดte d’Azur.
Another figure, from the CG/Metropolis partnership, concerns the “100% Snow Bus” service: there were 42,000 entries choosing it, and here too, there is a noticeable increase compared to the previous year, of +15%
Thus, it only remains to wait for this good policy to bear fruit.
