The winter sports season officially begins this weekend in the department.
Two resorts in the Mercantour, Auron and Isola 2000, are opening a very small part of their ski areas thanks to artificial snow.
Economic stakes have taken precedence over other considerations.
Due to insufficient natural snowfall, the snow cannons have been put into action, with 260,000 m3 at Auron and 160,000 m3 at Isola 2000.
No opening announced for the other resorts.
