Sliimy in concert in Nice before his album release in April

Latest News

Sliimy is very skinny and proclaims it loud and clear, even in his stage name. The young songwriter is influenced by contemporary artists in Anglo-Saxon pop such as Lily Allen, Mika, or Amy Winehouse, but he also claims influences from sweets (cookies, cakes, Weetabix,…) in his world. He indeed sings soft and sugary pop and willingly associates himself with the fluo-pop movement, allowing teenage reverie to revolve around his lyrics.

The young man, originally from Saint-Etienne, already has it all: an impressive voice capable of reaching androgynous high notes, home-crafted songs of tangy pop, a perfect English accent, and all the visuals to match: neon colors, XXL glasses, and an eccentric look that makes him a grandchild of Prince and a cousin of Mika.

This has charmed the Web, initially through his blog and his page on the MySpace network, where he made notably available an acoustic cover of Britney Spearsโ€™ “Womanizer.” His version was spotted by the blog of Perez Hilton, a reference in terms of celebrities and trends in the United States. As a result: his “Womanizer” was seen and heard by nearly 170,000 internet users in a few days, just as he had signed a contract with Warner. His first single, “Wake Up,” available on download platforms, excites FM stations that are already programming it.

He gained recognition by winning a singing contest organized in St-Etienne, earning a recording session in a local studio. For this occasion, he composed and wrote “When Life,” his very first piece, while he was still in high school. Feed, the studio manager, was impressed by Sliimy’s candid voice and has since been composing songs for him and accompanies him on guitar on stage, and together they have been opening for more well-known artists (La Grande Sophie, Mathieu Boogaerts, Sporto Kantes, …)

His first album “Paint Your Face,” currently being mixed, is expected on April 6. He is also expected to perform at the Printemps de Bourges.

A breath of fresh air is arriving in Nice on Sunday, March 15 at Nikaรฏa (room 700).
