Mediation is now an indispensable mechanism for social connection in priority neighborhoods under the policy of the City.

However, mediation also implies mediators, and mediators require training to positively fulfill a delicate role, which is to promote social interactions among people living in not always easy contexts and in dealings with institutions.

Yesterday, in the reception rooms of the Prefecture, 16 adult-relays, whose name indicates their task, received their diploma and will be able to carry out their activities within public organizations or associations with consolidated skills: case diagnosis ability, support capability, ethics (which entails neutrality and impartiality in interactions) and, finally, the ability to work in networks.

The opportunity for each of them to speak about the work accomplished and to convey their proposals to Prefect Adolphe Colrat and his collaborators.

The Department of Alpes-Maritimes currently has 47 positions (including 2 dedicated to social mediation in school settings), 39 of which are currently filled, with others in the process of being allocated.

In total, 200 people are assigned to mediation in the department in various capacities, with 12,000 across France.
