Socialist activists to the vote

Latest News

Socialist activists are once again called to the polls this Thursday, March 29th. They must elect the first secretaries of each federation as well as their national first secretary.

On the latter point, there is no suspense: there will be only one ballot. It is a purely symbolic vote since Olivier Faure is assured of winning. His program won more than 48% of the votes, 15 days ago.

The new leader of the PS is therefore him, but the turnout will be an interesting indicator. Will it be higher or lower than in the first round? More than 37,000 socialists turned out then. That’s better than what the party leaders expected, but much less than during the last congress where 70,000 people chose Jean-Christophe Cambadรฉlis.

Olivier Faure will be officially inaugurated in Aubervilliers on April 7th and 8th during the congress. Until then, he will continue to try to rebuild his political family, which remains in disarray.

The latest episode: the departure of most of the leaders of the MJS, the organization of young socialists who decided last Friday to join Gรฉnรฉration.s, the movement of Benoรฎt Hamon.

In the Alpes-Maritimes, the outgoing secretary Xavier Garcia is expected to be re-elected. Here too, they are waiting to know the number of voters to better understand the health of a party whose influence is minimal.
