Solidarity in the face of storm Alex: donation delivery to the victims

Latest News

Today, Charles Ange Ginésy, President of the Alpes-Maritimes, and Eric Ciotti, President of the department’s finance committee, hosted within the gardens of the Departmental Council three donation ceremonies by the Departmental Olympic and Sports Committee (CDOS), Azur Sport Organisation, and the Bakers Federation, for the benefit of the victims of storm Alex, in the presence of the organizations’ presidents.

Storm Alex, an unprecedented ordeal for our territory and its inhabitants: 10 dead, eight people still missing, houses and public infrastructure blown away, 35 km of departmental roads and a dozen bridges destroyed, and a severely impacted economy.

Just over six months after the disaster that ravaged our valleys on October 2 and 3, 2020, reconstruction will require several years and considerable financial resources, estimated at 1 billion euros.

The urgent response put in place by local authorities, led by the Alpes-Maritimes Department, was joined by an extraordinary human, material, and financial solidarity at the local, regional, and national levels. A lasting solidarity.

Because, while in our current world one piece of news replaces another, and one disaster makes us forget the previous one, no one in the Alpes-Maritimes can forget Storm Alex and the suffering it caused in the Roya and Vésubie areas, notably.
