After two days of screenings, debates, and exchanges, the first sports film festival (E-motion International Sport Film Festival), organized under the aegis of the Fรฉdรฉration Internationale du Cinรฉma Sportif affiliated with the International Olympic Committee, received its evaluation: the trial was a success! See you in 2017!
A film festival is characterized by the quality of the films: and the audience was able to see some very beautiful films, all the finalists deserving of a place on the podium.
Ultimately, it was “Sรฉbastien Loeb-off tracks” that received the award for the feature film, landing in the hands of Damien Piscarel, its director, who followed the rally champion on the Dakar 2016 route.
The jury nevertheless wanted to reward a film with strong social content: “Kayabik” by Matteo Trabucchi, set in one of the townships of Cape Town.
The local participant, Azur Sport, which organizes the Nice-Cannes marathon and many other races in Nice, was awarded for the short film “Ultra Trail Nice,” its latest work, whose breathtaking panoramas captivated both the audience and the jury!
The four colloquiums that accompanied the screenings demonstrated well that sport is not just about athletes in competition: it is above all a beautiful human story, of feelings and values. And increasingly, an economic sector that bears significant weight.
This is not contradicted by the two local representatives of the Olympic movement, Philippe Manassero (CDOS06) and Ivan Coste-Maniere (CROS Cรดte d’Azur), who took advantage of the presence of Professor Franco Ascani, FICTS president and member of the IOC Culture and Heritage Commission, to share their experiences and lay the foundations for joint programs.
A first in France, Sophia Antipolis and the communes of Valbonne and Biot, represented by their mayors, are now part of the global circuit of 18 festivals approved by FICTS, filling a gap that has lasted 34 years, since the first festival in Milan, Italy.
A great satisfaction for the local organizing committee.
