On Thursday, May 2, 2024, the inauguration of the new health center of the SOS Doctors association took place in Nice.
In the presence of the mayor of Nice, Christian Estrosi, and the brass band. This new medical center comprises four consultation rooms, one of which is specialized in performing technical medical care (stitches, burns, wounds, etc.). This new SOS Doctors health center is also equipped with medical tools such as an electrocardiogram.
For the past two months, the SOS Doctors consultation center has been open, helping to alleviate the medical inadequacy. The center enables patients to get an appointment with a doctor in less than 6 hours. The SOS Doctors center is open from 9 AM to 10 PM, 7 days a week, including weekends, school holidays, and public holidays.
A Shortfall in Medical Services
To address this medical shortage in the city, Dr. Sacha Benzernadji shares with us that the center will accommodate up to 150 people per day. “The goal is to work in support of our fellow general practitioners and emergency doctors, who are often overwhelmed,” he added to reinforce his point.
“We have a medical demographic that keeps declining. It’s the situation where one looks for a general practitioner or specialists and can no longer find them. It is no wonder that in six years, the CHU emergency visit numbers have gone from 50,000 people per year to 100,000,” continues the mayor of Nice, Christian Estrosi, who criticizes the State’s responsibility in the shortage of personnel in both public and private sectors. The government plans to increase the public service by 4.3%. Christian Estrosi highlights the injustice of the project following the 0.3% increase for private services, “It is the same doctor, with the same degree, deserving the same consideration.”
