The Southern Region is working towards the modernization of the Nice University Hospital and is providing a grant of 5 million euros.
During the plenary assembly on October 26, 2023, the Region announced its support for the modernization of the regional university hospital center in Nice. The entire region is indeed working towards the adaptation and modernization of healthcare facilities. The total amount of 5 million euros will be used to undertake the construction of a building dedicated to the consolidation of general and specialized biology activities on the Pasteur site.
This financial support will thus contribute to the completion of the transformation of the Pasteur site. It will also ensure the modernization of the LโArchet site and the restructuring of the Cimiez site. Finally, it will be used to consolidate and secure technical platforms as well as logistical functions.
Are hospitals still in crisis?
The COVID-19 health crisis highlighted the various weaknesses in the French hospital system. It appears, therefore, necessary for local authorities to genuinely commit to supporting hospitals. Indeed, the financial situations of French hospitals have hindered any possibility of renovating facilities. Thus, this investment of 5 million euros from the Region is a beacon of hope for the hospital system.
The support from the Region focuses on three major axes. It will enable the adaptation and modernization of public healthcare establishments within the framework of the protocol agreement signed with the Regional Health Agency. Moreover, it will support investment projects aimed at contributing to the modernization of training institutes, some of which are affiliated with healthcare establishments. Finally, the Region will support the ecological transition of healthcare establishments within the framework of the 2022-2025 call for expressions of interest.
