The year 2013 holds particular significance for the world of heritage as it will mark the commemoration of a foundational law for the protection of historical monuments in France, the one from December 31, 1913. It will also celebrate the 30th edition of the European Heritage Days.

Two major events, intended to unite their cultural and symbolic significance, invite citizens to share their love for heritage in this historic year.

In Vallauris, two major monuments will be available to discover or rediscover over these two days: the priory and its chapel (late 12th century), now converted into the Magnelli Museum, the Ceramics Museum, and the Picasso National Museum, as well as the Madoura workshop, a former ceramics factory taken over by Suzanne and Georges Ramié, where Picasso discovered the art of ceramics.

This latter building, a witness to the history of Vallauris and a period of intense creativity, is undergoing rehabilitation and will find a new cultural prominence in the coming months.
