The city of Nice, through its youth department, is participating in the “You+Me = Sport” operation organized by the Departmental Committee for Adapted Sport 06.

This initiative aims to raise awareness among children, from a young age, about the differences brought about by disability, to promote the integration of mentally disabled children into mainstream environments, to develop “better living together,” and to change the perception of able-bodied young people towards young people affected by a disability.

This program of activities involves around a hundred children aged 9 to 12, either able-bodied or visually impaired, from Medical-Educational Institutes in the Alpes-Maritimes department, Notre Dame de la Tramontane School in Antibes, Fuon Cauda and Raymond Moretti leisure centers, and the Municipal School of Sports in Nice.

On Wednesday, February 22, the children welcomed at the Fuon Cauda leisure center will participate in sports workshops for basketball and athletics.

These sports sessions take place at various sites on Wednesday mornings, from November to May, totaling 24 mornings. A festive closing day will be held in June 2012.
