In the continuation of the National School Sports Day and the Olympic Day, the Olympic and Paralympic week is a key moment to promote education through sports and place civic and sports values at the heart of teachings.
All students from kindergarten to high school in the academies of Nice and Aix-Marseille will be able to participate in the Olympic and Paralympic week, which will take place until February 2.
This initiative allows the combination of physical and sports activities with moral and civic education.
It is an opportunity to work on themes such as fair play, the values of sports and Olympism, or even equality, health, and the inclusion of students with disabilities.
The educational objectives of the initiative
More specifically, this week should enable teachers to:
Use sports as an educational tool in teaching (sports and mathematics, for example)
Raise awareness of Olympic values by using educational and playful tools made available
Introduce students to Olympic and Paralympic disciplines, in collaboration with the sports movement, through the organization of sports practice workshops
Change young people’s perspectives on disability by exploring parasports and integrating shared sports encounters
Encourage young people to engage in volunteer activities.
