The first Spot Mairie was inaugurated at Nice-Etoile. From now on, you can complete administrative procedures from a real small virtual town hall in a shopping center, in this case, Nice Etoile.
When the city of Nice and Cisco, an expert in digital technology, join forces, it results in the world’s first virtual town hall.
Spot Mairie is a free service accessible to everyone, allowing for the completion of administrative procedures such as voter registration, submission of birth or marriage certificate requests, and much more. In short, everything that previously required citizens to travel to the nearest town hall.
Why Spot Mairie?
Simply to meet the strong demand from citizens. In the near future, when the city will have several Spot Mairies in various locations, endless queues in town halls and long-awaited appointments will be a thing of the past. With Spot Mairie, the town hall comes to you, not the other way around.
This new interface makes the metropolis of Nice more connected, sustainable, and innovative than ever. A city that today benefits from the advancements of tomorrow. โWhen I told you 5 years ago that the city of Nice would become the most ambitious in the country and have a global presence, did you believe me?โ stated Christian Estrosi, deputy mayor of Nice. โOur city does not limit itself to tourism and favorable weather; we are pioneers in new technology.โ Certainly, just a few years ago, such a machine could only exist in a few science fiction films. But moreover…
How does it work?
Nothing could be simpler. Cisco and the city of Nice wisely chose not to design a machine entirely controlled by a computer. You will interact with real town hall agents. In fact, the machine will fulfill functions already assured by the “allo mairie” telephone service. However, having someone in front of you is always more appreciated.
Let’s proceed in order: You enter the machine (which is quite pleasing to the eye), a simple touch on the touchscreen activates it, and you choose the procedures you wish to complete.
Depending on your request, you will be face-to-face with the appropriate agent. The image is of very high quality, as is the sound, and the architecture of the machine gives you the impression of being in the same room as the advisor. From there, everything proceeds in the same manner as at the town hall, except the forms appear on the screen; you can scan and share your documents with the agent, and the machine is equipped with a printer to leave with the necessary documents and information.
No doubt, the future is already here, and for now, it has settled in at Nice Etoile.
