« In all my previous shows, I have always, more or less, talked about women. Here, with SQUARE OF QUEENS, that is all I do.
But talking about women is talking about life, love, death, and through Aurélie’s voice, it’s about their story.
Although the most beautiful stories have an end, by putting myself in their place to tell their joys and sorrows, I have suffered and laughed like them. I felt the spirit, regained vision, sang the “Internationale,” cried with happiness, sought hope, loved, and hated.
Angèle, the strong one who lost her mind during the war of ’14, and who fought her war, as she plows her garden, because she must. And the other one, born shortsighted, who regains sight and finds her life. Nicole, a bit crazy, who wants a revolution while not living her own. And Tlixine, with a baby moon gaze, who, looking straight ahead, understood too late that men were cruel.
In the time it took to tell, the time to write, I loved all 4 of them, I know them, I still love them. »
