After reorganizing its staff, the club from the Côte d’Azur announced a third reinforcement for the upcoming season.
Thirteen days ago, Stade Niçois officially appointed Arnaud Vercruysse and Alexandre Compan as coaches of the first team of Stade Niçois. Although Nice has already announced 2 arrivals: scrum-half Mathieu Lorée and center Alban Conduché, the recently introduced duo at the helm of the team has likely just signed its first recruit.
It is the fly-half Mathis Viard who joins Stade Niçois from Bourg-en-Bresse. A true Berjallian, the 25-year-old player began his professional career at CSBJ in 2016 when the club was playing in ProD2 and then in Fédérale 1 the following year. Mathis joined Bourg-en-Bresse when they were promoted to the second division, where he played 67 matches over 4 seasons. During the 2020/2021 season, he was one of the key contributors to his team’s promotion to ProD2 after finishing behind… Nice in the regular season.
With the arrival of scrum-half Mathieu Lorée and fly-half Mathis Viard, Stade Niçois forms a brand new half-back pairing for the upcoming season.
