The Nice stadium has just announced a major addition for the 2022-2023 season.
What a surprise and what a signing! No one saw it coming, Steffon Armitage, the 36-year-old English international (5 caps), will be gracing the fields of the National league in a few months wearing the Eagles’ jersey!
Stade Niçois will be Armitage’s fourth French club following Toulon (2011-2016), with whom he was a three-time European champion, Pau (2016-2019), and Biarritz (2019-2022).
The back row will bring his extensive experience (over 400 professional matches) to the Azurian group. Originally from the South-East of France, the player wanted to “embark on a new project to finish well.” He chose to return to his “club of the heart.” “Where it all started, where I have all my childhood memories.”
Stade Niçois is pleased to announce the arrival of back-row player @Magicsteffo7 for the upcoming season! #IssaNissa #NissaRugby
The Mayor of Nice, Christian Estrosi, welcomed the news on Twitter
The return to his home turf and to his club of the heart of @Magicsteffo7, an international and Top 14 player, is fantastic news for #Nice06 and for the club. Well done to @stadenicois and welcome @Magicsteffo7
