This past Sunday, October 17th, in Auron, the first edition of the Stand Up Enduro, organized by Yannis Pelé, attracted more than 180 athletes to support spinal cord research.
This cause is dear to this young athlete. Five years ago, he was the victim of a serious cycling accident during the French Cup in Serre-Chevalier, which resulted in two fractured vertebrae. With his spinal cord affected, doctors gave him little chance of walking again… Yet, with limitless determination and a steel mindset, he managed to defy medical predictions. Now back on his feet, he is once again hiking the mountain biking trails with exciting projects in mind.
It is in the Mercantour mountains, where he learned to ride a bike, that he decided to organize a charitable race in support of the association Neurogel en Marche.
Since last winter, he has been working on this project and gathered under a clear blue sky, 180 athletes, including 135 registered in muscle-powered and 45 registered in E-bike categories.
Volunteers, rescue teams, participants, and numerous partners came together to support the cause and make this day memorable.
The enthusiasm surrounding this project has raised nearly 6,000 euros for the association. A very promising start.
Yannis Pelé aims to prepare a second edition to continue advancing research and thus give hope to victims: https://neurogelenmarche.org
