Overseen by Nikos Aliagas and directed by Alexia Laroche Joubert, Star Academy VI will be sponsored by Lionel Richie and Yannick Noah: a 4-month “Say You, Say Me” saga.
The lineup already promises big names: Georges Michael, Tina Turner… National and international artists will come again this year to support and encourage the 16 academicians: 16 students who we will see daily on our small screens progress, learn, fight, and persevere to show the best of themselves: Generosity, Presence, and Sincerity, the GPS of Gérard Louvin, director of Star Academy IV.
But before revealing their talent to the public, they had to impress several selection juries. A testimonial from Dimitri, a young artist, whom we followed during the auditions at 
Nice: “I prepared for three days. I am going to perform songs by Craig David and Aldebert. Then, I will give a demonstration of capoeira.” That day was Dimitri’s lucky day: he earned his pass to the next casting. Last June 9th, he learned he was selected for the semi-final which will take place on June 20th in Paris. He will defend his place by performing “On vient de loin” by Corneille a cappella, dancing to a choreographed number, and then freestyle capoeira for three minutes. Unfortunately, he did not make it to the final thirty (you can see the list of candidates still in the running at https://staracademy.tf1.free.fr/). Dimitri continues his journey outside of the TV studios. Perhaps he will try the casting again in 2007?
This year, the jury had to scour 12 French cities, not to mention the Antilles and Morocco, to find the gem. Nearly 12,000 candidates presented themselves to clinch the precious access to the Château. To date, only 16 remain.
Who are they? Will there be one or more from Azur?
For now, their identities remain secret. The only information we have is that there will be individuals in their thirties and “babies” as Nikos would say, young people of 18 who have been watching the show since they were 13. They all have the dream of one day being in the spotlight, like their predecessors who grew up before their eyes, on that familiar stage. A novelty, however, that we have been able to obtain: this year, the prime-time shows will be held on a 2,000m2 set. It will accommodate 1,700 people instead of 400: an additional challenge for the academicians.
So who will be the next Jenifer or Grégory Lemarchal? Who will clinch the sixth trophy of Star Academy? Who will most charm the viewers? Answer in 4 months from September 1st.
However, it is not necessary to come first in Star Academy to prove that one of these students has a place in the music world!
