Storm Alex: A Seventh Body Found

Latest News

Storm Alex has claimed at least five lives in the Alpes-Maritimes. Two other bodies have been found, but it is too early to link them to the bad weather. Nine people have also been missing for nine days now.

Seven bodies have been found nine days after the violent weather that devastated part of the valleys of the Alpes-Maritimes. Xavier Bonhonne, the public prosecutor of Nice, specifies that five deaths are linked to Storm Alex, according to legal medical examinations. He remains cautious regarding the other two bodies: Are they victims of these weather conditions? Do these corpses come from coffins carried away by the floods? The autopsies will provide answers to these questions.

549 firefighters are still engaged on the ground this Sunday, to aid the population or search for bodies.

Eleven helicopters are also continuing their rotations to deliver water, food, and fuel to power generators… Two villages are still inaccessible by road: Tende and La Brigue.
