As part of the examination of the fourth rectifying finance law bill for 2020, Dominique Estrosi-Sassone introduced an amendment to freeze the contribution of the Alpes-Maritimes department to the equalization fund between departments and to request financial support from the state for the initial emergency works undertaken by the Departmental Council to engage the historic reconstruction effort of roads and structures devastated by Storm Alex.
Following the joint committee meeting, the amendment put forward by the Senator was definitively adopted to the tune of 20 million euros.
This is an initial immediate aid from the State that will already alleviate the finances of the department, which needs to urgently engage over 160 million euros in additional expenses in the last three months of 2020 for the repair of the massive damage caused by Storm Alex.
Charles-Ange Ginรฉsy, president of the Departmental Council, welcomed this announcement with satisfaction: “I am pleased with this first announcement from the Government, which allows for a favorable response at the National Assembly and the success achieved by Dominique Estrosi-Sassoneโs amendment in the Senate. This represents a first part of the state aid desired by the President of the Republic during his visit to the Alpes-Maritimes.”
