A year ago, Storm Alex devastated the valleys of Roya, Vรฉsubie, and Tinรฉe.
This Saturday, multiple commemorations are taking place in the three valleys.

“I know how much everything you have experienced is still in your minds and hearts, we will continue our work alongside you. The great sun of life will always be stronger than the storm,” said Christian Estrosi at Plan du Var to honor the memory of all the victims.

Another significant moment this Saturday morning is the inauguration of the memorial monument of Tende-Vievola. It consists of a statue imagined by two artists, depicting the shepherd Paul Giordano, who was swept away by the storm, accompanied by two sculpted sheep. This statue was chosen by the National Order of Merit among seven other artistic projects.

Five hundred people gathered near Tende in the hamlet of Vievola this Saturday morning for this tribute. Several participated in a mass at the Chapel of the Visitation.

In the afternoon, other commemorations took place in Vรฉsubie.
