Street Art is joining forces with the tramway for the future image of Nice.

The term “street art” is well-deserved when the construction barriers of the Nice tramway become genuine spaces for artistic expression!

street_art_tramway_nice.jpg The opportunity presented by the construction of the East-West tramway line on rue Catherine Sรฉgurane allowed the artists Didier Triglia, Laurent Bosio, Jรฉrรฉmy Tarbuchi, Patrick Moya, and Jean-Paul Foques to adorn the siteโ€™s fences, thus offering residents, passersby, and tourists a view of vividly colorful artworks.

This artistic approach is expected to gradually extend across the entire tramway, with other initiatives following from other local and national artists.

It is part of a broader policy concerning urban art. The challenge of installing artworks in public spaces is to transform the city by providing new landmarks which will in turn shape the future image of the city.

More than ever, the urban landscape of Nice today is marked by a significant contemporary presence that anchors Nice in the 21st century. “The Nine Oblique Lines” by Bernar Venet on the Quai des Etats-Unis or the sculptures of Jaume Plensa on Place Massรฉna vividly illustrate this reality.

Similarly, the invitation extended to artists to intervene on the tramway construction barriers further integrates Art into the city and into the lives of the people of Nice.
