This Tuesday, the CGT, FO, Solidaires, FIDL, UNEF, and UNL called for a “day of mobilization and inter-professional, student, and high school strike.”
Gatherings against the government’s social policy were planned throughout France.
In Paris, there were 21,500 demonstrators (according to an independent agency), whereas in Nice there were between 1,500 (according to the police) and 3,000 (according to organizers).
The parade started from Thiers station mid-morning, and after going down Jean-Mรฉdecin Avenue and then taking Jean-Jaurรจs Boulevard, the procession was scheduled to disperse at Place Garibaldi.
The strike movement affected the functioning of many sectors, starting with education and transportation. Five schools closed, trams did not operate, and buses provided a very reduced service.
