Strike: Healthcare workers sound the alarm over deteriorating working conditions

Latest News

A strike was organized to protest the worsening working conditions under the new management. Healthcare staff highlight increased risks to the quality of care and the safety of children.

A social mobilization took place today within the institution, as a strike notice had been filed by Force Ouvriรจre. According to several testimonies, pressure was allegedly exerted to prevent some employees from participating in the movement by forbidding them to leave their posts.

Dr. Barthรฉlemy, head of the pediatric intensive care unit, vice-president of the institution’s medical community, and CSE representative for the CFE-CGC union, denounces a situation that has been deteriorating for two years, since the arrival of the new management.
โ€œFor two and a half years, we’ve been completely hitting a wall,โ€ he states. He points out a significant increase in psychosocial risks, a surge in burnouts, and sick leaves among healthcare workers. The culprit: management deemed brutal, authoritarian, and lacking in consultation.

Highly questionable methods

โ€œAs doctors, we are not consulted on major decisions. There is no longer any dialogue. Today, projects are submitted to the Regional Health Agency without any representative doctor being involved,โ€ he warns.

The gathered professionals also denounce a direct impact on the quality and safety of care, mentioning a real risk for both children and healthcare staff.
Dr. Barthรฉlemy concludes: โ€œWe want to alert management to the gravity of the situation.โ€
