Since their creation in 1996, the Soirรฉes Estivales have welcomed 1,500,000 spectators to more than 4,000 shows. This year again, Mr. Eric Ciotti, President of the Alpes-Maritimes General Council, renewed this event with 450 free shows, from June 11 to September 25, 2011, organized in 155 municipalities.


estivales.jpg Classical, traditional or contemporary music, jazz, singing, dance, theater, or music hall, all tastes will be delighted with the programming of this 16th edition.

Jazz is in the spotlight this week with notably:

The Swinging Jazz Group, on July 21 in Peymeinade, on July 22 in Mouans-Sartoux, at 9 p.m. Alongside Jean-Pierre Russo on drums, the Swinging Jazz Group consists of 5 exceptional musicians… This quintet offers a jazzy journey illustrating the different periods and forms of this music so rich in emotion.

“Le Coq et la Pendule”, Andrรฉ Ceccarelli pays homage to Claude Nougaro, on July 24 in Roquefort-les-Pins, on July 25 in Blausasc, on July 26 in Contes, at 9 p.m. Andrรฉ Ceccarelli on drums, Pierre-Alain Goualch on piano, Diego Imbert on double bass, and David Linx on vocals have certainly set to music the most beautiful tribute to this great poet of French song that was Claude Nougaro. A major musical event, this quartet, let’s say “magical”, is currently touring to sold-out shows throughout Europe.

Swing Sorg Orchestra and Marcel Zanini, on July 24 in Saint-Martin-du-Var, on July 25 in Valberg, on July 26 in Levens, at 9 p.m.
The most energetic orchestra you can currently hear gives a special place to saxophonist Marcel Zanini, also known for his famous hit “Tu veux ou tu veux pas?”. This formation of 16 musicians, created by Marc Cauquil, trumpeter and arranger, is conducted by โ€œGastonโ€ Michel Cassez, former member of the “Les Compagnons de la chanson”.
Humor and music go hand in hand in a show titled: “Si le Jazz m’รฉtait contรฉ”.

Singing and contemporary music are also on the program:

Avร  Corsican Polyphonies, on July 21 in Opio, on July 22 in Villefranche-sur-Mer, at 9 p.m. Avร  is traditional music carried by instruments whose diversity of influences respects the spirit of the origins… Guitars, mandolins, violin, charango mingle, introducing the ceter and the surprising hurdy-gurdy. There is also the flute, accomplice of a hypothetical Corsican bagpipe. The punctual rhythmic section is ensured by a Berber darbouka or a traditional oriental percussion.

Stรฉphane Brunello, on July 20 in Peymeinade, at 9 p.m., on July 24 in Valberg, at 6 p.m. Author, composer, this artist from Nice released his first solo album in 2010, a mix of folk and rock, for which he skillfully merged his Anglo-Saxon influences with the French language. After composing and producing for others (Le Roi Soleil, Mozart lโ€™Opรฉra Rock, Christophe Maรฉ, Elodie Frรฉgรฉ…), Stรฉphane decided to move from musicโ€™s backstage to the stage. Accompanied by Jean-Luc Vรฉran on drums, Aurรฉlien Miguel on guitar, Nobo on bass and Cherifa Chabane-Lalande on backing vocals, he revisits the international pop-rock repertoire alternating between covers of classics and personal songs.
