Companies are being solicited this summer to provide learning opportunities for children and young people in neighborhoods. The network “Les Entreprises Pour la Cité” (LEPC), operator of the “Pacte Avec les Quartiers pour Toutes les Entreprises” (Paqte) program on behalf of the Alpes-Maritimes Prefecture, has met with the first group of mobilized companies.
The objectives are clear: to offer more support to children through educational holidays, to strengthen the presence of public services (France services, additional adult post-relay positions), support civic and public tranquility actions, promote solidarity through missions of general interest, prioritize employment and training, develop culture, and encourage sports.
The “Quartiers d’été 2020” operation aims to provide discovery, learning, and solidarity opportunities to young people in neighborhoods. Noting that during this period, one in four children cannot go on vacation, and this has been exacerbated by Covid-19. To achieve this, companies are being called upon to engage by providing equipment, as well as professional integration prospects. Elisabeth Fuchs, regional director of LEPC, along with Patricia Valma, sub-prefect in charge of city policy and social policies (Alpes-Maritimes), and Audrey Sintes, head of city policy services – equality of territories (DDCS 06), have met with some representatives of this first group.
Caisse d’Épargne Côte d’Azur will participate by donating iPads, Orange by providing 4G dongles, and SUEZ by offering masks to residents of the neighborhoods. All this will be available for the neighborhoods of Nice and Carros starting this week.
Throughout the summer season, companies will continue to invest in “Quartiers d’été 2020” by offering summer jobs, work-study contracts, company visits, coaching, professional environment immersions, or even integration actions through sports or culture. Meanwhile, the equipment will help young people develop digital skills, continue distance learning, and participate in cultural, sports, and educational activities.
