“Super Sunday” madness at the Hard Rock Café for the Super Bowl

The Hard Rock Café in Nice hosted an all-night Super Bowl event this Sunday evening for the fourth consecutive year. The show was incredibly intense. The audience witnessed the greatest comeback in the history of the sport last night.

The restaurant once again embraced the American vibe. This time it was very special. The Super Bowl is the most watched sporting event in the world, with over 112 million viewers every year in its homeland, the United States. Truly a “Super Sunday!”

Around 150 people attended the event at the Hard Rock yesterday, “Americans, Anglo-Saxons, Scandinavians. It increases every year; at the first event in 2013, 70 people came,” explained Anthony Matteuzzi, the restaurant’s marketing manager. “We improve with each edition. Last year, we added the cheerleader show, and today, since we are welcoming more people, we’ve added more screens, popcorn machines; we are truly thrilled.” The Hard Rock regularly organizes such events, and this one, along with the restaurant’s anniversary in June, Independence Day in July, and Halloween in October, is one of the most important of the year.

All-you-can-eat buffet, distribution of beers and sodas, popcorn — everything was prepared to make this spectacle as enjoyable as possible. And what about the cheerleader show? They enhanced the atmosphere in the different broadcast rooms throughout the night. By engaging with the spectators and performing during the numerous commercial breaks that are inseparable from the event, they kept the crowd on the edge of their seats. Fabienne, the leader of the group, appreciated the moment, “It’s our second year here, it’s really great, usually we work with the Antibes Sharks, so it’s a nice change.”

On the field, the match was a masterpiece. For three quarters, the Atlanta Falcons, a clear underdog team, dominated their opponents, the New England Patriots. 28-3. Tom Brady, the Patriots’ quarterback, seemed further away than ever from the absolute record: 5 Super Bowls. But the last quarter was extraordinary. The Patriots managed an incredible comeback, scoring 25 points in just 13 minutes. Fabulous. Everyone thought it was over, but two men decided to change the course of things. Tom Brady, with his numerous brilliant passes that enthralled Houston’s NRG Stadium, and Julian Edelman, who you’ll hear a lot about, the 30-year-old “receiver” made the most incredible catch in Super Bowl history, falling amid three players, allowing his team to gain 40 meters and forcing an overtime at 28-28, which they won with a “golden touchdown.” Incredible.

Pascal Ferrucci, a player for the Nice Dolphins, and an avid Patriots and Tom Brady fan, couldn’t believe his eyes, “It’s a dream, what a crazy game! They did it!” Final score 34-28. Tom Brady became the greatest player in the history of the sport with 5 Super Bowls.
