Until October 28, 2011, the various self-service cafeterias of the CHU hospitals are going green as part of the ECO CAMPAIGN launched for the attention of their staff.

Having been engaged for more than 10 years in a sustainable development policy, the CHU of Nice is strengthening its goals to improve its practices. Aspiring to become an exemplary player in the field, the institution has developed 7 major projects as core elements of its quality policy.

Goal 1: Manage and lead the sustainable development initiative by the Patient Quality Risk Evaluation Pathway Management with financial incentives attributed to departmental contracts.

Goal 2: Eco-construction and renovation of buildings with High Environmental Quality criteria for the design and construction of the Pasteur 2 hospital.

Goal 3: Management of water and energy in the buildings.

Departments are encouraged to promote “Eco-citizen” actions among their staff.

The central laundry of the CHU has obtained dual ISO 9001 and 14001 certification concerning waste management via sorting and recycling, wastewater control, and reducing water and energy consumption.

Goal 4: Waste management.

Enhancing the security of waste management circuits, adhering to all hygiene rules, ensuring the safety of professionals and patients, or reducing costs and the environmental impact associated with waste disposal.

Obtaining the “Imprimโ€™Vert” label: The CHU printing service ensures clean and environmentally friendly printing processes.

Neon light collection: Obtaining the “Best Collection Point 2010” label for the second consecutive year in the PACA region by the company Recylum.

Paper collection: From reducing consumption and limiting paper waste to recycling draft paper in printers and limiting prints, organized paper collection for recycling is in place.

Goal 5: Transport and movement of staff, patients, and visitors.

50% coverage of the subscription cost offered by the transport provider (Ligne d’Azur, SNCF, or โ€œblue bikeโ€).

Extension of tram line 1 for the future Pasteur 2 hospital.

Goal 6: Purchasing policy: Ongoing maintenance audit

Goal 7: Training and communication: Training professionals to adhere to sorting and disposal pathways that ensure the safety of staff, patients, and the environment with the creation of materials such as an โ€œEco-codeโ€ and an โ€œEco-guideโ€.
