Sustainable technologies: Nice in pursuit of European partnerships

Latest News

On February 4 and 5, the Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis will be represented at Kickstart Europe 2026, an international meeting on digital infrastructures. The goal: to promote a local ecosystem where innovation and sustainability advance together.

The Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis is preparing to showcase its strengths in the field of digital and sustainable infrastructures. Jean-François Chapperon, Senior Manager of Foreign Direct Investments for Team Nice Côte d’Azur, will travel to Amsterdam to participate in Kickstart Europe 2026. This event brings together decision-makers from the data center and IT sectors annually.

The theme of this edition, “The Next Gen,” addresses the transformations related to the rise of artificial intelligence and the need to integrate more environmentally friendly solutions. The meeting aims to be a platform for exchanges between economic, technological, and institutional players.

Jean-François Chapperon will present the strengths of the Nice region. He will emphasize the quality of its infrastructures, its local expertise, and concrete examples of companies that combine technological performance with sustainable practices.

An Ecosystem in Motion

Nice Côte d’Azur asserts itself as a space where technology and the environment mutually reinforce each other. The 3IA Côte d’Azur Institute and the IMREDD contribute to advancing projects in artificial intelligence, energy transition, and the management of smart territories.

Several local companies illustrate this dynamic. Datagreen develops low-carbon data centers. The company has benefitted from the support of Team Nice Côte d’Azur for its establishment and was recently awarded at CES 2025. Qualisteo, specialized in smart metering, offers companies the ability to reduce their energy consumption by 15% with its solutions.

This ecosystem is supported by a strong political commitment. The creation of the Public Development Establishment (EPA) Nice Écovallée marks a desire to make ecological transition a key axis of territorial development.

The “Territoire d’Industrie” label for the 2023-2027 period is part of this strategy. It aims to focus efforts on supporting innovative sectors and the decarbonization of industrial activities.

For Christian Estrosi, Mayor of Nice and President of the Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis, this recognition is a crucial lever. It aims to “structure future-oriented sectors, support companies in their ecological transition, and attract talent and investors.”

An Objective of International Partnerships

Team Nice Côte d’Azur’s mission at Kickstart Europe goes beyond mere promotion. It is part of a strategy of openness and cooperation. By meeting investors and international players, the Metropolis hopes to forge connections that will result in concrete projects.

The idea is to enhance the visibility of the territory in a sector where technological choices are made on a global scale. Sustainable IT infrastructures have become a strategic issue, and the Nice region intends to play an active role.

By highlighting local successes and emphasizing the integration of sustainability in every project, Team Nice Côte d’Azur seeks to attract partners ready to engage in long-term collaborations.

This participation in Kickstart Europe marks a step in a broader effort: to make Nice Côte d’Azur a convergence point between technological innovation, climate goals adherence, and economic attractiveness.
