Yesterday marked the first day of the Nice swimming meet. Champions like Camille Lacourt were present and accounted for.
A 5-star final for the men’s 50-meter butterfly
We were promised a high-level lineup, and that’s exactly what we got. For this first day of competition, the stars of French swimming showed up in force.
First of all, Camille Lacourt in the 50-meter backstroke. A two-time world champion in the specialty, the member of the Cercle des Nageurs de Marseille dominated the competition. He won the final with a time of 25.29. He beat out his fellow Marseille teammate Benjamin Stasiulis and the Greek Vazaios Andreas.

But the final not to be missed was undoubtedly the men’s 50-meter butterfly. On the starting blocks were Florent Manaudou, Frédérick Bousquet, and Medhy Metella. Together, they account for no less than 6 world titles.
And unsurprisingly, it was the Olympic champion of the 50-meter freestyle who won it. With a time of 23.44, Florent Manaudou established the best world performance of the year in the distance. The podium was completed by Frédérick Bousquet and Medhy Metella, respectively.

Also noteworthy
The good performances of Nice swimmer Charlotte Bonnet. She won the final of the 50-meter breaststroke with a time of 32.16. She was also present in the final of the 50-meter butterfly but couldn’t make her mark.
The Nice public also got to meet Katinka Hosszu, nicknamed the “Iron Lady.” Indeed, over three hours, she participated in no less than 8 races! (including both heats and finals). By the end of the first day, she already had 3 victories, in the 800 and 1,500 meters, as well as in the 50-meter backstroke.
The show was in full force yesterday. Today’s program notably includes the finals of the women’s 100-meter freestyle and the men’s 200-meter freestyle.
