Until March 6, The Deck Hรดtel by HappyCulture in Nice hosts the exhibition “Sylvian the FishMan is Celebrating Carnival”. An artistic immersion signed by Sylvian Preziosa. This Nice-based artist, known for his eco-friendly artworks, presents 17 paintings created from plastic waste recovered from the sea.
Since the 2000s, Sylvian has incorporated marine waste into his creations. This brings to life colorful fish carrying ecological messages. “When you know that I create artworks with waste found in the sea, holding this exhibition on the theme of the Nice Carnival was a necessity,” the artist explains. The choice of theme fits perfectly into the 2025 edition of the Nice Carnival, under the theme of the “King of the Oceans.”
An inspiring and lively exhibition
The opening attracted many visitors, thrilled by the richness and liveliness of the displayed works. Megan and Romain, present at the opening night, share their impressions: “It’s super beautiful. We heard about the event and came along. We are not disappointed. There’s color, you really feel like you’re in the marine world with a touch of originality and pep. It’s excellent!”
Visitors highlight the modernity of Sylvian’s works and the positive energy they exude: “We don’t know him that well, but we’ve seen someone funny, smiling, someone radiant. And that’s really what his works represent.”
A float to crown the artist
Recognition of Sylvian the FishMan does not stop at the exhibition. For the first time, he will have his own float at the 2025 Nice Carnival. This float, measuring nine meters in length, was created by the Durand family, carnival artisans from Nice for four generations. It will be unveiled at the first illuminated parade on February 15 and will parade accompanied by 30 dancers and nine large heads. For Sylvian, it’s a genuine recognition: “Of course, having my own float at the Nice Carnival is an honor and a great privilege. I am proud of it!”
